1. Clean Technology Promotion In India (SECO-UNIDO PROJECT)

GCPC is working as a service provider for Dyes & Dyes Intermediate Sector of Gujarat for the "Clean Technology Promotion in India" Project of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO), Switzerland. Project would focus on the identification and resourcing of Cleaner and Environmentally sound Technologies as suitable for SMEs. The project would also develop appropriate mechanism for technology assessment and transfer along with the demonstration of Techno- Economically viable technologies. Project involves various services like CT Assessment, CT Training, CDM, POPs and Information Service.

GCPC has completed one CT assessment at Milestone Catalyst Pvt. Ltd, Naroda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat as a part of the said project in the year 2003. GCPC officials were also undergone training programmes organized by NCPC/NPC in presence of IRC expert. In the second year also, GCPC has been selected as service provider and will work on various services i.e CT Preassessment, CT Assessment, Coached Assessment, Training and Information Service.

In addition to Dyes & Dye intermediate sector, in 2004-2005, the Textile sector has been also included. As a service provider GCPC has completed CT Preassessment at NEPTUNE Textile, YORK Prints & ASIAN Dyeing. These industries have shown willingness to go for Cleaner Technologies also.

2. Energy Conservation Awareness Programmes

GCPC along with other sponsors (IREDA and GEDA) had arranged Energy Conservation Awareness Program at different industrial estates.

IREDA

IREDA is operating a World Bank Line of Credit to finance projects in Energy Efficiency & Conservation sector, under the 'India: Second Renewable Energy Project'. 3 days training program was arranged at Ahmedabad, Ankleshwar, Vapi, Rajkot and Surat.

Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA)

GCPC along with GEDA, had conducted 1-day training program at Nandesari and Kalol-Chhatral. The training included introduction of government policies regarding energy conservation and energy audit. An understanding of Scope of utilizing renewable energy was also identified.

3. Cluster Project

Under the "Gujarat Industrial Policy-2003: Scheme for Assistance to Cluster Development", GCPC has worked for 'Dyes and Dye-intermediate' cluster. According to the Policy, GCPC has worked on the following areas:

• Creation of common facilities like R&D/testing laboratories
• Technical assistance from R&D / technical Institutions / Universities for technology upgradation and quality improvement programmes for member units.
• Creating information databank for market intelligence and improvement of productivity in clusters.
• Hiring experts, consultants or cluster development agent for cluster activities
• Activities towards environmental protection as well as energy and water conservation activities
• Use of Cleaner Technology
• Initiatives towards capacity enhancement programme
• Any other activity related to improvement of productivity and cost control measures among members units in the cluster.

The cluster development program was done for Naroda GIDC. GCPC initially faced problems due to non-availability of benchmarking system and ignorance about quality specification as it was more or less one man show with less skilled labour. The study results are as follows:

4. CP Demonstration Project

Department of Forests and Environment, Government of Gujarat, had awarded GCPC with CP Demonstration Project for Dyes and Dye Intermediates, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Fisheries, Textile , Hotel, Hospital, Electroplating and Pulp and Paper industry.
